About the Job
The main responsibility of the Sommelier is to foster and maintain Cocoon’s upscale winery and sake image and to provide our customers with the uppermost degree of integrity and customer service available. A Sommelier should achieve the highest degree of wine and sake service and to generate revenue targets that are part of our planned budget. As a key member of the team, you will be required to continuously educate the wine serving staff about wine etiquette, wine attributes and general wine knowledge. The sommelier is responsible for carrying out the weekly wine stock control and inventory and is responsible for the wine GP’s.
About You
Successful candidates will meet the following criteria:
• Substantial previous experience as a sommelier and/or a proven knowledge of wines and sake is essential;
• Previous experience in a high volume food and beverage department/outlet;
• Able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external guests;
• Passionate about exceeding guest expectations;
• Excellent (inter)personal, communication and presentation skills are required;
• Ability to work in a fast paced working environment and remain calm under pressure;
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
• Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, late nights and weekends;
• Knowledge of Microsoft packages;
• Experience in training staff is an advantage;
• Ability and confidence to deliver Sake Masterclasses to our guests.
Ideally you have obtained your WSET levels 2 and/or 3. If not yet, personal development support is available for the right candidate.
